10:30. Removal, check of a state and installation of a steering column

On some models the column has a safe design and a nazhimaniye on its shaft with excessive effort can lead to emergency folding of assembly! Do not make attempts of independent repair of mechanisms of folding and adjustment of an inclination of a column! |
Assembly of a steering column
Design of a steering shaft
Removal
|
|
Deactivate SRS (see the Head Elektrooborudovaniye).
Bring forward wheels of the car into rectilinear situation.
Remove a steering wheel (see Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
By means of a center punch mark adjusting position of the U-shaped cardan hinge.
Turn out the lower coupling bolt of hinged assembly.
Remove the top and lower sections of a casing of a steering column.
Remove a cable of blocking of switching of AT (see the Head the Transmission line).
Remove a cable of the indicator of provision of AT.
Disconnect an electrical wiring of understeering switches, the lock of ignition and the spiral cable reel.
Remove assembly of the combined switch (see Removal and installation of assembly of the combined understeering switches).
Remove the left lower section of finishing of the dashboard.
Turn out bolts of the lower basic arm of a column and bolts of fastening of the boot / panel of a floor.
Turn out bolts of fastening of the top basic arm of a column.
Remove a column, having accurately involved it in interior of the car.

Check
|
|
If violation of smoothness of rotation of a steering wheel took place, estimate degree of wear of bearings of a steering column.
Check existence in lubricant bearings.
Examine a column case sleeve on existence of deformations and other mechanical damages.

If the car had an accident, measure geometrical parameters of a column and the top hinge.

|
The top hinge is located between reducing assembly of the steering drive and the lower shaft of a steering column. |
|
If results of measurements exceed the limit of admissible ranges (see Specifications), replace a column assembled.
|
Check the adjusting sizes of the driving mechanism of adjustment of an inclination of a column. Compare results of measurements to requirements
of Specifications, in case of need make replacement of a column.

|
Installation
|
|
Make sure that forward wheels of the car still are in rectilinear situation.
From salon pass assembly of a steering column throughout an opening in a car floor. Make sure of correctness of combination of adjusting tags of a shaft of a gear wheel and the U-shaped cardan hinge.
|
Connect the lower hinge to a gear wheel shaft — track that the coupling bolt was developed to a cut on a shaft.
|
|
Establish the top and lower basic arms of a column, and also the lower boot with a fixing flange.
By hand tighten all bolts of the lower arm and a fixing collar.
Tighten a bolt of the lower cardan hinge.
Tighten nuts and bolts of the top and lower arms with the required effort.
Restore initial connection of an electrical wiring.
Establish sections of a casing of a steering column and a steering wheel (see
Removal and installation of a steering wheel).
Tighten a nut of fastening of a steering wheel with the required effort.
Install the pillow module a safety / overlay of a horn. Check serviceability of functioning of a sound signal, the lock of ignition and understeering switches.
Check correctness of centering of a steering wheel (see Checks and adjustments of a steering wheel).

Check serviceability of functioning of the mechanism of adjustment of an inclination of a column and its adjusting sizes.
