2.3.2. Combination of devices

The combination of devices of an instrument guard of the car included a set of the main measuring instruments, control lamps and light indicators.

Measuring instruments


Speedometer, odometer and measuring instruments of a run

The speedometer is located on the right in the central part of an instrument guard (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices) and specifies the speed of the movement of the car in miles an hour (the main scale) and kilometers per hour (the additional scale, is lower than an axis of an indicator arrow, under a control lamp of SRS "AIR BAG" the three-functional digital display of the odometer, and two independent measuring instruments of a run is located.

The three-functional digital display of odometers / measuring instruments of a distance in kilometers of the current run is activated at inclusion of ignition (the key is turned in position of ON). In the mode of the odometer of the display information on full vehicle mileage is displayed from the moment of the beginning of its operation. Measuring instruments of a run And yes In allow to perform two independent measurements. The choice of the mode of functioning of the display is made by means of the speedometer of the press switch located on the right under the dial — in the right lower display space the corresponding explanatory inscription is highlighted. Switching is made in the following order: ODO — TRIP A — TRIP B — ODO. For dumping of indications of the display it is necessary to hold the button of the switch in any of the modes pressed within more than 1 second.


Tachometer

More to the right of a speedometer in the central part of an instrument guard the index of turns of the engine is located — a tachometer (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices). The arrow of the measuring instrument shows to the driver the frequency of rotation of a bent shaft of the engine in thousands of revolutions per minute. Try not to allow hits of an arrow of the measuring instrument in limits of the measuring instrument scale range highlighted in red color — at dangerous increase in turns switch to higher transfer.


Measuring instrument of temperature of cooling liquid

The measuring instrument is located the right bottom corner of an instrument guard (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices) and registers temperature of cooling liquid of the engine. Indications of the measuring instrument can vary depending on ambient temperature and conditions of driving. At a device arrow exit out of limits of range of admissible values of a scale, it is necessary to stop immediately the movement and to allow the engine to cool down. Long operation of the superheated engine can lead to an exit it out of operation.


Fuel reserve measuring instrument

The measuring instrument of fuel consumption is located in the left bottom corner of an instrument guard (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices) and shows about a level of fuel in a tank. During the braking, accelerations, commission of maneuvers and the movement of the car on the inclined plane of the indication of the measuring instrument can vary slightly. The scheme of connection of the measuring instrument such is that it continues to give working value even at the switched-off ignition (a key in position of OFF). When lowering level of fuel in a tank to critical value the control lamp which is built in in the measuring instrument dial works. Try not to allow full production of the fuel which is in a tank — in due time you make gas station of the car.


Movement with very low level of fuel in a tank can lead to operation of a control lamp of refusals (MIL) (see below). At pass of small distance after refueling the control lamp has to go out! If the lamp continues to burn, the car should be driven away on car repair shop for performing diagnostics and performance of necessary recovery repair.


Control lamps and alarm buzzers


Designations of control lamps and light indicators

The whole complex of control lamps by means of which the driver obtains important information on serviceability / violation functioning of the main units and systems of the car is built in assembly of a combination of devices of the car. The full list used on the models of control lamps and light indicators considered in the present manual is provided in the table (see above). Below information on the principle of functioning of each of the provided light indicators separately is offered to attention of the reader.


Check of serviceability of lamps

Cock the parking brake and include ignition (the engine do not start) — on an instrument guard control lamps of pressure of oil, a charge, the brake system and temperature of ATF, a control lamp of engine failures (MIL), and also the alarm indicator of the all-wheel drive mode have to light up.

Control lamp of ABS

This control lamp lights up approximately for several seconds at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, or right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of a contour of system of anti-blocking of brakes.

The refusal of switching off of a lamp, as well as its operation in any other situations demonstrates identification by system of self-diagnostics of violations in ABS contour. The car should be driven away immediately on the nearest car repair shop for performing detailed diagnostics of system and performance of necessary recovery repair.

At operation of a control lamp the system of anti-blocking of brakes is disconnected, however brake mechanisms of the car continue to function in the usual mode, providing to the vehicle adequate braking.


Control lamp of temperature of ATF

This control lamp lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

Operation of a lamp during the movement testifies to a dangerous overheat of transmission liquid and need of immediate reduction in the rate of the movement (without violation of traffic regulations).

Long operation of the vehicle with the included control lamp is fraught with failure of automatic transmission!


Alarm indicator of refusal of inclusion of the AT parking function

Activation of this control lamp warns the driver that there was no inclusion of parking function of automatic transmission.

If the transfer case is not fixed in one of working provisions at transfer of the lever of the AT selector to situation "P", blocking of wheels does not occur.

The control lamp can light up at inclusion of ignition (a key in position of ON) if AT is transferred to situation "P" when finding the switch of the modes of functioning of the transfer case (4WD) in situation, intermediate between 4H and 4L. Transfer the switch 4WD to any of working provisions (2H, AUTO, 4H or 4LO) and make sure of operation of a control lamp of inclusion of the all-wheel drive mode (4WD).

Before the parking of the car you watch that the lever the selector / switch of the modes of the transfer case was in N or 4LO situation, or that the control lamp of activation of the all-wheel drive mode (4WD) was included. Do not forget to cock the parking brake!
Operation of the alarm Pacific Rim indicator demonstrates refusal of inclusion of the AT parking function and finding of the transfer case in neutral situation!
The refusal of switching of the transfer case can bring into situation 2H, AUTO, 4H or 4LO to spontaneous rolling the parked car!


Control lamp of level of brake liquid / raising of the parking brake

This control lamp continuously burns at raising of the parking brake, reminding the driver of need of his otpuskaniye before a start of motion.

The movement with the cocked parking brake leads to a bystry overheat and failure of brake mechanisms of back wheels of the car and premature wear of protectors of tires of back wheels, and, besides, can become a cause of infringement of serviceability of functioning of system of anti-blocking of brakes (ABS).

One of the possible reasons of gradual decrease in level of brake fluid is normal wear of frictional overlays of brake shoes. At operation of a control lamp the car should be driven away on the nearest car repair shop for assessment of a condition of blocks and check of tightness of a hydraulic path of the brake system.

Operation of a control lamp happens also at inclusion of ignition, even at the released parking brake.

The movement with the included control lamp is dangerous! First of all make sure that the parking brake is released.


Control lamp of a charge of the rechargeable battery

This control lamp lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of a chain of a charge.

Operation of a control lamp at the working engine warns the driver about violation of serviceability of functioning of system of a charge (i.e., the rechargeable battery begins to be discharged). It is necessary to switch off at once everything consumers of the electric power on whose functioning traffic safety does not depend and to try not to allow an engine stop as the attempt of its restart can lead to the final category of the battery. First of all check a condition of a driving belt of the generator. Control lamp of leaky closing of doors

The luminescence of this control lamp at the included ignition warns the driver that not all doors of the car are densely shut.


Control lamp of pressure of motive oil

The control lamp of pressure of motive oil lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

The lamp blinking at the working engine demonstrates the pulsation decrease in working pressure of engine oil in the engine. Transition of the indicator to the mode of a constant luminescence says that pressure of oil fell to dangerously low level that is fraught with serious internal damages of the engine, up to its full exit out of operation. In both cases it is necessary to take urgent measures for adjustment of level of oil, identification and elimination of the reasons of pressure drop.

Continuation of the movement at the worked control lamp of pressure of oil is fraught with the most serious consequences, up to jamming of the engine!


Control lamp of the all-wheel drive mode

Detailed statement of the modes of functioning of a control lamp of 4WD — see Use of the all-wheel drive mode.


This control lamp is built in a tachometer (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices), lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

Operation of the indicator during the movement (both in continuous, and in the flashing mode) demonstrates violation of serviceability of functioning of the corresponding system (see Methods of operation) — drive away the car on car repair shop.

Avoid movement along roads with a hard dry coating at the included modes 4H or 4LO of the transfer case — if the light indicator 4WD works at the included AUTO or 4N mode, transfer the switch 4WD to situation 2WD; at the movement in the mode 4LO it is necessary to stop, transfer AT to situation "N" and only after it to include the mode 2WD. If after the made manipulations the alarm indicator continues to burn, the car should be driven away on the nearest car repair shop for performing detailed diagnostics of the corresponding knots and performance of necessary recovery repair!


Control lamp of level of liquid of washing of glasses

At operation of this control lamp it is necessary to make adjustment of level of liquid in the tank of the washing liquid.


Control lamp and alarm buzzer of seat belts

The control lamp is activated at inclusion of ignition and remains included until the driver's seat belt is not properly clasped (see Elements of passive safety). Operation of a control lamp is followed by a 6-second sound signal.


Control lamp of system of additional safety of SRS

This control lamp lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to die away about 7 seconds later, or right after implementation of start of the engine.

The refusal of a lamp of switching off later the specified term, or continuation of its functioning at the working engine (in the continuous or flashing mode) indicates existence of malfunction of components of safety cushions of SRS. At the corresponding complete set operation of this control lamp can be the testimony of malfunction in contours of side safety cushions, or devices of automatic emergency natyazhitel of seat belts (see Elements of passive safety).

The car should be driven away on the nearest car repair shop for performing full diagnostics of SRS and performance of the corresponding recovery repair in any of the listed below situations:

    The control lamp of AIR BAG is not disconnected on the expiration of the stipulated higher than the term (7 seconds) after inclusion of ignition, or continues to burn (in the continuous or flashing mode) at the working engine; The control lamp is not activated at all at inclusion of ignition; The control lamp works (in the continuous or flashing mode) during the movement of the car.

Safety cushions (frontal and side) at the activated control lamp can not work at emergency collision of the car!


Control lamp of a tempostat

At the corresponding complete set of the car this control lamp lights up at inclusion of system of automatic control of the speed of the movement of the car (tempostat) (see Instructions for use a control system of speed (tempostaty)).


Light indicator of the modes of the transfer case

Detailed statement of the modes of functioning of the light indicator 4WD — see Use of the all-wheel drive mode.


The indicator is built in a tachometer (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices), quickly lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

At the working engine the indicator serves for control of the choice of the modes of the four-wheel drive by means of the lever of the selector of a distributing box / switch of the modes of the transfer case 4WD.

When switching the modes of the transfer case the control lamp of 4WD can work in the flashing mode.


Control lamp of a reserve of fuel

This control lamp is activated when in the fuel tank there are less than 9.0 l of fuel and warns the driver about need to urgently make gas station of the car.


Light indicator of inclusion of driving beam

This light indicator lights up along with inclusion of driving beam of head headlights of the car.


Control lamp of engine failures (MIL)

The control lamp lights up at inclusion of ignition and has to go out right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

Its operation in any other time testifies to possible malfunction of one of systems of electric equipment of the power unit. In the absence of visible signs of refusals of functioning of systems of the power unit and decrease in dynamics of the vehicle, fixed by activation of a lamp of violation can be the reason of increase in fuel consumption or increase in toxicity of emissions.

Also violation of serviceability of functioning of elements of systems of decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases can be the reason of operation of a lamp of MIL.

In the flashing mode leads leaky closing of a cover of a jellied mouth of the fuel tank, and also approach to the end of a reserve of fuel to activation of a lamp — check density of closing of a cover, make sure that in the fuel tank there is a fuel reserve not less than 14 liters.

At operation of a control lamp in the continuous mode it is necessary to drive away the car on car repair shop for check of a state for check of serviceability of functioning of control systems of engine / decrease in toxicity of the fulfilled gases.

Identification is the module of self-diagnostics of the admissions of ignition fraught with failure of components of systems of decrease in toxicity the typical reason of activation of a lamp in the flashing mode:

    Continuing the movement, try to move with a speed no more than 72 km/h; Avoid sharp accelerations, try not to avoid movement on the hilly area; Whenever possible as much as possible unload the car / trailer.

Ignoring of signals of a control lamp of MIL is fraught with serious damages of the engine, up to a unit exit out of operation. At operation of a control lamp on the run it is necessary to stop immediately the movement, to park in the safe place and to kill the engine, then, later small time, to make start, watching at the same time behavior of a control lamp. If the lamp did not return to the normal mode of functioning and continues to burn, the car should be driven away on the nearest car repair shop for performing detailed diagnostics and performance of necessary recovery repair. Before elimination of malfunction of systems of the engine try to move with a moderate speed, avoiding sharp dispersals with full squeezing of the accelerator pedal.

Even if at restart of the engine the control lamp comes back to the normal mode (i.e., dies away), follows at the first opportunity to address for consultation on car repair shop, especially if such turning on of the indicator happens not for the first time.


Continuation of operation of the car with the included control lamp of a condition of the engine can lead to premature failure of the catalytic converter. Remember that do not extend to the refusals and damages which resulted from operation of the car with the included control lamp, guarantee certificates of manufacturer!


Control lamp of switching off of the mode of the raising transfer

The control lamp serves for indication of shutdown of the mode of the raising transfer by squeezing of the corresponding push-button switch.

The lamp lights up approximately for 2 seconds at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, or right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

If later the stipulated term the control lamp continues to function in the flashing mode within 8 more seconds, the car should be driven away on car repair shop for performing detailed diagnostics of system and performance of necessary recovery repair.

In a control system of AT the mode of emergency functioning allowing to continue the movement even at damage of an electric chain is realized — transmission at the same time is automatically blocked on the third transfer. See also Features of driving of the car with automatic transmission.


Control lamp of the choice of the mode 4LO of the transfer case

This control lamp is built in a tachometer (see the illustration Scheme of an Arrangement of Elements of a Combination of Devices), lights up approximately for 1 second at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, or right after implementation of start of the engine, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

The lamp serves for indication of the transfer of the switch 4WD to situation 4LO (ignition has to be included).

If at the chosen mode 4LO the control lamp passes into the flashing mode, it is necessary to stop the movement, then to start slowly forward — the blinking has to stop (for more details see the Part Methods of operation).

When finding the switch in situation between 4H and 4LO it is necessary to stop, switch AT to situation "N", then to translate the switch situation 4H or 4LO — without performance of these manipulations the translation of the switch is not possible. Make sure of serviceability of operation of a control lamp at transfer of the switch 4WD to situation 4LO.

At the time of switching the control lamp can work in the flashing mode.


Light indicator of indexes of turn / alarm system

The indicator confirms the fact and serviceability of functioning of indexes of turns of the vehicle and works in the flashing mode with a frequency, the corresponding frequency of a blinking of indexes. Doubling of frequency of a blinking of the indicator usually demonstrates burn-out of a lamp of one of indexes of turns — follows at the first opportunity to make replacement of the burned-down lamp not to create emergencies on roads.

Also turning on of the alarm system usually is followed by a blinking of this indicator.


The light indicator of a repeated call of the Communication Center (the model equipped with Infiniti communicator)

This light indicator lights up approximately for 30 seconds at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

The indicator confirms serviceability of activation of function of automatic repetition of a call of the Communication Center in unsuccessful attempt of initiation of connection.

The indicator can begin to blink earlier than the control lamp which is built in in the corresponding button of the block of a communicator is activated (see Governing bodies and the equipment of salon).


The light indicator of an exit from an area of coverage of telecommunication network (the model equipped with Infiniti communicator)

This light indicator lights up approximately for 30 seconds at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

The indicator serves for the alarm system about finding of a radio telephone out of an area of coverage of network and impossibility of establishment of contact with the Communication Center (see Governing bodies and the equipment of salon).


The light indicator of inclusion of a distress signal "Mayday" (the model equipped with Infiniti communicator)

This light indicator lights up approximately for 30 seconds at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

The control lamp of the indicator is built in the corresponding button of a communicator and is activated when giving a distress signal. At the working indicator the communicator will make attempts of transfer on the Communication Center of distress signals "Mayday" in the international code on all available channels of radiotelephone communication (see Governing bodies and the equipment of salon).


The light indicator of inclusion of the information mode (the model equipped with Infiniti communicator)

This light indicator lights up approximately for 30 seconds at inclusion of ignition and has to go out later the specified term, confirming thereby serviceability of functioning of the corresponding alarm chain.

The control lamp of the indicator is built in the corresponding button of a communicator and is activated in attempts of installation of the channel of data exchange with the Communication Center for all available channels of radiotelephone communication (see Governing bodies and the equipment of salon).


Alarm buzzer "Take a key from the ignition lock"

The buzzer works during opening of a driver's door of the car at the key forgotten in the lock in the ignition lock.


Alarm buzzer "Do not forget to switch off headlights"

The buzzer works during opening of a driver's door at the switched-off ignition and outstanding headlights.

The buzzer will work even if shutdown of headlights already happened automatically — return the switch to position of OFF.


Sound signal of wear of brake shoes

At extreme wear of frictional material of blocks of disk brake mechanisms they begin to publish high-frequency squeal during the movement of the car (regardless of that, braking is applied or not). At the first opportunity make replacement of blocks.
